Ep. 5 - Kristi Hansen & Jameela McNeil

 
 

Jameela is an actor, musician, and emerging writer from Edmonton, Alberta. She is a 2017 MacEwan Theatre Arts Alumnus. Since graduating she has worked with theatre companies in Alberta and Winnipeg. Select credits include: All Because I'm a Woman (Citadel Theatre) As You Like It, The Color Purple (Citadel Theatre/RMTC co-production), Sister Act, All Shook Up, Soul Sisas (Mayfield), Here There Be Night, and John Ware Reimagined (Workshop West). In 2021, Jameela was a member of Tarragon Theatre's Young Playwright's Unit, where she began writing her first play. Jameela is passionate about diversity in the arts and wants to put a spotlight on the stories that have yet to be told within the Black diaspora.

Kristi Hansen is a disabled theatre artist who lives and works on Treaty 6 territory in amiskwaciwâskahikan. Credits as an actor include The Silver Arrow and Alice Through the Looking Glass (Citadel Theatre); The Invisible (Catalyst Theatre); Jason Kenney’s Hot Boy Summer (Grindstone Theatre); Dear Rita (Confed Centre); Hiraeth (Bright Young Things); Candide (Edmonton Opera); Mr. Burns - a post electric play (Blarney/You Are Here); The Hollow (Vertigo Theatre); Christina/Philippe (Northern Light Theatre); The Jazz Mother and Pith (Teatro la Quindicina); The Sound of Music (National Arts Centre); Comedy of Errors, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and King Lear (Freewill Players); Small Mouth Sounds, 10 out of 12, and Passion Play (Wild Side Productions); The Snow Queen and Apocalypse Prairie (Azimuth Theatre); The Supine Cobbler, Monstrosities, Age of Arousal and Hroses: An Affront to Reason (The Maggie Tree). Kristi is the co-founder and co-Artistic Director of The Maggie and the former co-Artistic Producer of Azimuth Theatre.
